Biga*Ranx’s hazy French mutation of dub: rub-a-dub swing, cloud-rap softness, slowed textures, tape blur and electronic glow. Vapor Dub feels sun-faded rather than militant.

Vapor Dub emerged as Biga*Ranx developed a more self-contained musical and visual world during the 2010s, especially around the 2017 album 1988. Dub and rub-a-dub remain underneath, but the surface draws from cloud music, hip-hop, chopped-and-screwed pacing, vaporous electronics and lo-fi cassette color. The term also appears through his work with O.B.F and the wider French/European dub network. This is not a historical Jamaican dub category or a universally standardized scene. It is an artist-led microgenre that became useful because the sound is recognizable: soft-focus, melodic, bass-heavy and deliberately synthetic. The Tree should include it precisely as a modern branch with a named source, not pretend it has always existed.
