Biga*Ranx
A French singjay who made reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and lo-fi electronics melt into a hazy world of his own. Biga*Ranx’s 2010s work helped give Vapor Dub its public name and visual weather.

Biga*Ranx came out of Tours with a fast dancehall flow, a deep attachment to Jamaican sound-system culture and an ear that kept drifting toward hip-hop and electronic production. His earlier records established him as one of France’s most visible reggae singjays, but the 2017 album “1988” marked a sharper turn: oversized bass, softened percussion, pitched and treated voices, trap haze and melodies that seem to float above the riddim. French reggae media began describing that world as Vapor Dub, a term closely associated with Biga, his Brigante circle and collaborators including Atili and Blundetto. “Sunset Cassette” in 2020 and “Rainshine” in 2025 kept developing the language. Vapor Dub is not the whole of Biga*Ranx, and he is not the only artist working in it, but his records made the name and atmosphere legible to a much wider audience.
