A defining voice of Jamaica’s 2010s roots resurgence, with an easy singjay flow and a restless ear beyond revivalism. Chronixx helped make old foundations feel current without treating them like museum pieces.

Chronixx rose internationally in the early 2010s as one of the artists most closely associated with the Reggae Revival conversation. Dread & Terrible in 2014 brought songs such as “Here Comes Trouble” into a wider audience, while the 2017 album Chronology stretched across roots reggae, soul, hip-hop, dancehall and pop without losing its Jamaican center. It earned a Best Reggae Album GRAMMY nomination. After years away from full-length releases and major solo sets, Chronixx returned with Exile in 2025 and to a major Jamaican stage in 2026. That arc makes the “revival” label feel especially limited: his work keeps pointing toward evolution, continuation and personal pace rather than a permanent assignment to one nostalgic sound.
