Jepther McClymont began recording around the start of the 1990s and found his defining partnership with producer Philip “Fatis” Burrell and the Xterminator family. “It’s Me Again Jah,” “Lord Give Me Strength,” “Sweep Over My Soul” and the albums Where There Is Life and Messenger established Luciano as a central voice in the decade’s return to Rastafari-centered roots reggae. His delivery is disciplined rather than frantic: a broad baritone, gospel phrasing and songs about moral responsibility, faith and social survival. Luciano’s consistency made him a counterweight to dancehall’s most aggressive commercial period without placing him outside Jamaican riddim culture. He has continued recording and performing for more than three decades.
