THE STORY

A Jamaican singer who refuses the false choice between roots dignity, dancehall confidence, R&B intimacy and pop reach. Her voice can sound conversational one moment and towering the next.

GO DEEPER

Lila Iké developed through Kingston jam sessions before Protoje brought her into In.Digg.Nation in 2017. The ExPerience introduced a voice that could move from spare reggae to soul and dancehall without becoming a playlist of personalities. Treasure Self Love arrived in 2025 after years of singles and experimentation, bringing mental health, desire, family, confidence and self-definition into one album. Features from H.E.R., Joey Bada$$, Masicka and Protoje make its wide musical world obvious, but the center is Lila’s refusal to let other people decide which parts of a Jamaican woman can coexist.

How they stand with the others

Mixed withThe movement among roots, R&B, pop and dancehall is part of Iké’s artistic premise, not evidence that the reggae identity is weak.
