THE STORY

Bermuda’s gravel-voiced bridge into modern reggae and dancehall crossover. Collie Buddz moves comfortably through Jamaican riddims, hip-hop production and the North American festival circuit.

GO DEEPER

Collie Buddz emerged internationally in the mid-2000s with “Come Around,” a cannabis anthem built on a Jamaican dancehall riddim and delivered in a voice immediately recognizable from the first bar. His self-titled 2007 album moved among reggae, dancehall, rap and pop collaborations without hiding his Bermudian identity. Later, he built Harper Digital and became part of the infrastructure around North American reggae as well as an artist on its stages. The Cali Roots Riddim projects used the Jamaican one-riddim model to connect multiple contemporary acts; Hybrid and Take It Easy kept his own catalog moving between bass-heavy dancehall, melodic reggae and hip-hop-informed production.

How they stand with the others

Took rootCollie Buddz is Bermudian, not a Jamaican artist or a California band; his career connects those reggae markets without erasing that origin.

Returned toThe Cali Roots Riddim releases deliberately adapt Jamaica’s one-riddim album method for a contemporary North American network.
