Ziggy Marley came of age inside the Melody Makers with siblings Cedella, Stephen and Sharon. Conscious Party and One Bright Day brought the group major international success in the late 1980s, pairing reggae foundations with pop-scale songwriting and touring. His solo career kept the message-centered core while widening the frame through rock, soul, acoustic music and work for children. Love Is My Religion and the self-titled Ziggy Marley became GRAMMY-winning landmarks. Ziggy is often described through his father, but his own history is four decades of band leadership, songwriting and building an audience that crosses reggae’s usual borders.
