THE STORY

Brittany’s Dubadub crew: Pupajim’s elastic voice, Rootystep and Mac Gyver’s production, deep bass and a refusal to keep dub away from hip-hop, jazz, new wave or house.

GO DEEPER

Rootystep and Mac Gyver began building Stand High Patrol after years around French and British sound-system sessions, then Pupajim joined as MC, singer and songwriter. The crew learned its trade in Rennes and across Brittany before turning its own productions into a distinct sound-system identity. They call that language Dubadub. The name covers a moving mixture of dub, reggae, hip-hop and bass music, with jazz, trip-hop, techno, new wave and later house entering as needed. “Midnight Walkers” established the recorded world in 2012; “A Matter of Scale,” “The Shift,” “Underground Oasis” and 2026’s “Skanking & Jacking” kept changing the proportions. Dubadub works best as Stand High Patrol’s own open method, not a rigid box for everybody else.
